這首曲目描述、捕捉著在 Battle of Yorktown (1781 年，或譯為約克鎮圍城戰役) 中發生的各種事件，這場戰爭是美國獨立戰爭 (American War of Independence; 1775 年 – 1783 年) 中的最後一場主要戰役。

後話

藉著今天後話的篇幅再說一下讓我覺得這齣劇很有趣的另一個點~ 就是雖然這已經是 2015 年的作品了、講的又是好像很久以前的獨立戰爭時期故事，但其中很多當時的歷史人物在面對、為之奮鬥的事情，到 2015 年、甚至現在都仍然以不同程度存在著。以種族議題為例，這裡唱著當時在為了廢除奴隸制度、種族平等而奮戰， 2015 年這齣音樂劇上百老匯的當下也因為劇中選角大多為非白人而興起一陣波瀾，我看這齣音樂劇的時候是它剛在 Disney+ 上映的 2020 年 7、8 月左右，當時美國正因為一起警察執法過當殺死一名黑人的事件而鬧得沸沸騰騰 (所以我看的時候感觸特別強烈 >__<)，翻譯的現在又有一波歧視、攻擊亞洲人的事件，其他像女權、移民等劇中提及的議題也類似，以故事發生的獨立戰爭時期為基準點與現在相比較，一路走來這個世界和社會的確已經有了許多變化，但從現在放眼望去，感覺仍然有很大的成長空間和很長的路要走。
