Reviews and Comparison of 3 Miami Hotels

Following the last post about the Miami, Key West schedule, today I’m sharing the hotels that we stayed in! Because of some schedule changes in this trip, we ended up living in 3 different hotels for our 3 nights in Miami. It’s not the most ideal arrangement, but thankfully all three of them are quite good, and the prices are relatively low in their location. Here I’ll share my experience staying in these hotels with you!

How to decide where to stay?

Hotels, Airbnb, etc., there are many options when it comes to finding a holiday stay. I usually will have multiple booking sites open, search and filter by my criteria to come up with the “candidates”, then check the photos, details, and reviews of the candidates to make a final decision.

Booking sites

Here are some of my most used booking sites:

  1. Airbnb
  2. Booking.com*
  3. Agoda*
  4. Hotels.com
  5. Expedia

Filters and decision Making criteria

  1. How many people are staying for how many days
  2. Price
  3. Star rating
  4. Review: rating
  5. Location
  6. Pictures of the room
  7. Review: comments

🏠 1. Radisson RED Miami Airport

Here’s a picture from their official website. There weren’t many reviews and comments when I was booking this place. I was a bit concern about that at first, then realized that it is a new hotel. After our stay, I think it’s a simple, clean, and affordable option! The pictures below are taken during our stay.

To be honest the room in real life is a bit different than their website pictures (please ignore my suitcase in the bottom right corner lol), but still has a simple yet thoughtful vibe. (Though I don’t really get the slipper wallpaper and industrial style ceiling :-/ )

The bathroom is also very clean. I like their shower with strong enough water pressure and a handheld showerhead. The shower faucet is at the entrance of the shower block, so you can turn on the water first then elegantly enter your shower, and don’t need to worry about water suddenly goes down on your head. They also provide body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.

🏠 2. Hilton Miami Dadeland

Look at it! It’s so beautiful when the sun shines through the room! (This time, please ignore my tissue and takeout in the bottom left corner lol.) The look of this room eased my tiredness after standing under straight sunlight for a full day in Key West. Although it’s not very high-class, and the parking lot requires some extra charges (I cannot remember it clearly but I think it’s about $13 for parking), Hilton still holds its standing as a global hotel brand. Plus, in this room I stayed, I could see their swimming pool as I opened the curtain:

With the breathtaking sunset and sky in Florida, I almost thought these were some commercial images that you could only see on a flyer. Such an amazing view! Now bring the camera back into the room with two pictures from different angles:

Then here are the entryway and the bathroom next to it. The bathroom behind the sliding door is big enough and comfortable. There is a small makeup mirror, which comes in handy. But the showerhead is fixed. (I personally prefer the handheld showerhead that can be easily adjusted and moved around.)

🏠 3. Sonesta Miami Airport

As I mentioned in the Restaurants and Things to Do In Miami & Key West post, I wasn’t feeling well when checking-in this hotel, so I didn’t take any pictures of the room. The picture here is from Booking.com for a similar room. The one that I stayed in looks very similar to this, with a living room-like area that has some sofa for 4 people, a small desk, and a makeup desk. It also provides free wifi. The rug in the room feels a bit aged. (I didn’t want to walk on it barefoot so ended up putting on my slippers.) Overall, the room is neat and comfortable, and the extra room works as a bonus to it!

They also charge an extra parking fee like Hilton. I can’t recall the exact price either but I think it’s around $26.

That’s all for my experience and review for the three hotels in Miami that I’ve stayed in! If I had to rank, it will be Hilton Miami Dadeland* > Sonesta Miami Airport* > Radisson RED Miami Airport* for me. But all three of them are pretty good especially considering their price!
