I was decluttering my place and selling some things on FB Marketplace. And got really confused about buyer’s profiles and how to find their reviews at a point. It now looks very obvious in retrospect, but for some reason I got into a rabbit hole and couldn’t find the buyer’s reviews when I needed them. So documenting my observations here in case anyone is ever in that same boat. (We’re focusing on mobile experience via Messenger for this post.)
Facebook Profile vs. Marketplace Profile
So apparently there are two different profiles in Facebook:
1. Facebook profile, which is the normal user profile in Facebook where you make posts, share pictures, etc.
2. Facebook Marketplace profile, which holds everything related to your activities on Facebook Marketplace, including the reviews you get as a seller and buyer, the listings you have, etc. It has a “Marketplace” header on the page. This is what we’re looking for today if you want to see the reviews a buyer has received.
Navigate to a Buyer’s Marketplace Profile
Open Messenger > Tap open the Marketplace chat folder > Tap open the chat you have with the buyer you want to check
If you scroll all the way to the beginning of the chat, you’ll see a “[buyer’s name] started this chat. View buyer profile”. You can go to the Buyer’s Marketplace profile by tapping on the “View buyer profile” link.
Or if you’re deep into the conversation, you can tap the “More options” button at the top of the chat at any time, then tap “View buyer” to go to the buyer’s Marketplace profile.
Navigate to a Buyer’s Facebook Profile
When you tap the buyer’s profile photo icon in the chat, then “View profile”, you’ll be led to the buyer’s Facebook profile, where you can see their public posts and photos. This is different from their Marketplace profile so you won’t find any buyer reviews here.
