Puzzle Review | Galison Spring Street 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

My friend unexpectedly invited me to get on a call and do a jigsaw puzzle together. As a puzzle enthusiast, I naturally seized the opportunity and immediately agreed. I took out this puzzle that I’ve been holding onto for a long time. I’ve always thought the color scheme and illustration style of this puzzle are really attractive, and finally, I get to enjoy piecing it together!

Galison Brand Introduction

Galison Publishing LLC was established in 1979 with its office located in New York. Currently, the company has a team of about 30 members. What started as a collaboration with art museums to produce paper-based products has evolved into a diverse product line, with a primary focus on puzzles. Their offerings now span stationery, gifts, games, and more. Perhaps stemming from their origins in selecting and creating art-related merchandise through partnerships with art and history museums, their puzzles are often distinguished by beautifully crafted imagery.

Galison Spring Street 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle Quality and Review

They have a lot of really beautiful puzzles, and the box designs are also pretty nice. If you like the illustration style, you should be able to easily find puzzles you like here. Putting together those beautiful images is truly therapeutic – it’s so visually soothing!

Basic Information

Unboxing Experience

The puzzle box is designed with a color scheme that matches the image of the puzzle, creating a harmonious overall look. The information on the back is also clearly written. Upon closer inspection, I realized that both the puzzle and the box are largely made from recycled paper – big plus! Inside the box, there’s a small poster of the completed puzzle image, and the back features a blue brand promotion. Upon opening the box, there are quite a few puzzle pieces still connected in pairs, but they easily separate. However, one piece was already bended and slightly damaged. The amount of puzzle dust is relatively low.

Puzzle Pieces

Here are some close-up photos of the puzzle pieces! The print quality is excellent. If you look closely, you can faintly see the printing grids, but it’s barely noticeable. The colors are vibrant and very harmonious, providing a comfortable and pleasing aesthetic. The puzzle pieces have a slightly glossy surface, with a subtle reflection, but it’s not too pronounced. The pieces are relatively thick and feel solid when picked up, giving a sense of quality.

The puzzle pieces don’t have much repetition in their shapes. Although there are no special-shaped pieces, each one is well-designed. Coupled with the richness of the overall picture, if you place the pieces correctly, you’ll almost immediately know. In the process of putting it all together, I only had are one or two pieces that seemed to fit, but ended up need to be swapped out. Despite the pieces seem to be quite thick and solid, for some reason, they don’t feel very sturdy. The first time I completed the puzzle and started to take it apart, a few pieces already began to separate. It seems more suitable for those who prefer to glue the puzzle together and frame it for display, rather than repeatedly assembling and disassembling.

The interlocking precision of the puzzle pieces is fantastic! The fit is excellent, and after assembling, there is only minimal movement and gaps in all directions. You can even lift up the entire completed puzzle without worrying too much about it coming apart.

Puzzle Image And Level Of Difficulty

The image and colors of this puzzle are really soothing. And there are quite a few clearly defined areas with recognizable little things to work on. I think it falls into the medium-to-friendly difficulty range! Considering its look and difficulty, it feels like a puzzle that would make a great gift!

Final Thoughts

While the quality of the puzzle pieces may be ordinary, it shouldn’t be a problem if you don’t plan on repeatedly taking it apart and re-doing it. After all, the cut shapes are well-designed, and the feel of putting the puzzle together is quite satisfying. Moreover, they offer a wide range of beautiful designs, including collaborations with various artists. It’s easy to find a style you love! (I’ve been eyeing this seaside puzzle by photographer Gray Malin – it looks so amazing!) If you’re thinking of giving a gift or hanging up a puzzle, this one would be a great choice!

Lastly, here are the pictures of the completed puzzle for your reference. Thank you so much for reading yet another long jigsaw puzzle review post!
