I have to admit that it’s been more than a year since I bought them (procrastination queen). Back to the time when I realized there weren’t enough business casual outfits in my closet, I wanted to get my hands on some cheap and basic tops. I heard about SHEIN, which is an eCommerce brand known for its affordable pricing, by chance and decided to give it a try.
While I was doing my research online, I found that it had some polarized reviews. So I want to also share my SHEIN haul and experience with the clothing I got for work. If you are planning to buy similar items from SHEIN, you can use this post as a reference. Personally, I use the following as my tips and tricks when it comes to making purchases on SHEIN (or any online platform, really):
- When buying clothes that have lighter color options, you can select those options first and zoom in to see the product photos. Some lines, textures, cuts, and other details might not be as clear with the pictures of darker items.
- Read reviews from other customers, especially the actual photos taken by them. SHEIN’s review section often has buyers with different body shapes and skin tones. And it’s really helpful to see the photos of them wearing the clothing in real life.
- Mindset-wise, I usually still will remind myself that you pay for what you get. Since the price is relatively low, I won’t expect it coming with super high-class fabric or world-class well-made seams. If the products turn out to exceed my expectation, then great! I’m lucky! In this case, you’ll be happy with what you receive no matter what. 🙂

Though I only gave it a three-star rating, it’s totally on me. I wanted to get this as I don’t have many clothes in this style, and, well, it turns out that there’s usually a reason why you don’t have a certain kind of clothes in your closet. I just don’t think this pattern suits me very well. So I’ve never worn it since I got it and still cannot figure out why I would want to buy it 😂 The fabric is very soft and silky to touch. The printed pattern is basically as bright and clean as shown in their pictures.

The color of this one is actually really beautiful! It’s just the right coral pink – a great balanced vibe between mature and young that makes your skin tone looks healthier. I like it!
📍 Drop Shoulder Curved Hem Longline Blouse*

I love this! This is probably my most-worn item on this list. A long white shirt with a cotton and linen feel is perfect for both semi-formal and casual occasions. 👍
📍 SHEIN Grid Print V-Neck Top*

I love the black version of this one, too! Although it will not always stay flat and straight, the line in the front adds a special touch to this basic top.

Stipes is also a classic must-have! It’s a piece that is casual and comfortable to wear, but still formal enough for the office.

The grid on this one has some twists to it. With its pattern, cut, and texture, there’s a more casual look to it. It gives me a picnic vibe somehow but is still suitable for the workplace.
I wasn’t so sure before placing the order but I had a great experience with SHEIN in my first purchase! Most of the clothes are made with slightly thin fabrics and you can tell that it’s not super delicate when you look at their inner sides. But I usually layer my business casual outfits with a tank top so I’m all good with that, especially considering their price!
Anyways, this is to share my very first order from SHEIN, and I’ve actually placed two more orders from them since then lol. I’ll share the other stuff I got from SHEIN in the future. Please feel free to share your favorites with me if you’ve bought from them before as well! 🙂
